Our Services
All of our sessions are one-on-one and fall under the umbrella of Educational Coaching. However, each student’s plan is personalized and may include different components. Bonnie M. Weiss, M.Ed. develops each student’s plan and goals using information gathered from parent interviews, psychological-educational testing, school reports, and/or feedback from teachers or other collaborating professionals.
Learning Disability Support
We address learning challenges from the root cause, by using research-based methods to help students strengthen areas of weak cognitive processing. We support students with diagnosed or suspected:
Executive Dysfunction
Math Disabilities/ Dyscalculia
Written Expression Disorder/ Dysgraphia
Reading Comprehension difficulties
Memory Challenges/ Working Memory Deficits
And other learning disabilities and challenges
Study and Learning Skill Development
We teach students to understand how they learn best, by coaching them to use strategies and tools tailored to their learning style. Students practice applying these strategies and tools to their school assignments with the guidance of their Educational Coach and leave each session with a plan for using them independently during the week. Areas addressed may include:
Planning, organization, and time management
Study skills
Test-taking strategies
Note-taking
Reading comprehension
Written expression
Mathematics
And More
ISEE Preparation
We help students prepare for this private school entrance exam using the same principles we use in all of our services. With an emphasis on strategic learning, our one-on-one ISEE coaching sessions are custom-designed based on the student’s learning style, as well as their cognitive strengths and challenges.
Summer Sessions
During the summer we offer sessions for students in need of remediating, strengthening, and/or enriching their learning skills. Summer is an ideal time to focus on cognitive and academic development without the added pressure faced during the school year.
"We have been with Bonnie and her team since our child’s initial testing in 3rd grade. TFALC has been our guiding light for eight years. TFALC helped with remediation therapy, school choices, tutoring, support at IEP meetings, and is currently helping us with the transition to college. We appreciate all that TFALC has done for our family."
