Social Studies & Science

Social Studies

We begin the year with map skills and geography but will soon move on to early American history and local history. We cover a lot of material and may have take-home projects for the children to complete. Social studies is included as part of our literacy block, so expect to see reading and writing heavily present within instruction.

Science

In third grade we cover a variety of topics, including weather, magnets, and simple machines. Science is taught with a multi-sensory approach, meaning the children will be reading, writing, and doing! The units above are very hands-on and encourage children to explore the world around them. Expect questions to be asked and unusual facts to be presented at the dinner table!

TEAM TEACHING FOR THE WIN!

I will be team teaching social studies and science with Ms. Trevor this year! Your child will go across the hall a few times weekly to engage in an interactive science lesson with Ms. Trevor while her class comes to visit me and complete a social studies activity.
