Clubs and Activities

One of the most exciting things about moving to Tewkesbury School is that you will have a great selection of clubs and activities to become involved with.

Joining a club is also a great way of meeting new friends and getting to know different teachers. Clubs and sporting activities are also free to attend! There will be lots of information about when and where any clubs will be starting.

Some will be offered at lunchtimes and some after school. There are lots of sporting clubs and teams on offer as well as other activities that will be completely new to you.

Look out for opportunities and give things a try!

music and singing lessons

We are pleased to offer a wide range of lessons on musical instruments, music technology and singing.

These are delivered by our team of visiting music/vocal teachers and take place across the school day. This is in addition to the normal class music lessons in Key Stage 3. Lessons can be started as a total beginner in September or at any point during your child’s time at school, as long as there is availability.

  • Singing

  • Guitar

  • Drums

  • Piano/keyboard

  • plus the full range of woodwind, brass and stringed instruments

Students can opt for 20 or 30 minute lessons and there is the option to share a lesson in some instruments. Whilst students do come out of their subject lessons for this there is a rota system so that they avoid having lessons at the same time each week. There is the option to hire instruments if necessary from the County music hub.

The peripatetic teacher will make the necessary arrangements with the school based on the information you supply. The current payment system will require you to pay the peripatetic teacher directly. I will oversee the system and I am happy to support and liaise where necessary but you will benefit from direct access to your child’s teacher.

Tuition fee bursary subsidies are available, for example, if you are in receipt of Universal Credit or Free School Meals. The details of costs and financial support available are below.

To book your child's lessons, please contact rachael.patrick@tewkesburyschool.org Lessons will start w/c 19 September 2022.

school plays

You can also get involved in our amazing school shows; being a part of the cast is a great way to make friends from all age groups across the school. The music and drama teachers organise theatre trips throughout the year to see shows like ‘School of Rock’ and ‘War Horse’.

We are excited about our next school production which is coming up in October - Beauty and the Beast.

Here are some photos from our last school production of ‘We Will Rock You’ at The Roses Theatre.

Homework club

The Library and Homework Club is an open access centre, which exists to help with your school work and homework. It contains a wide variety of resources, which aim to make learning and reading an enjoyable experience.
