The History Engine is a collection of thousands of historical “episodes” that paints a wide-ranging portrait of the past that is freely available to scholars, teachers, and the general public. Students from a variety of college and universities write these episodes. Creating an episode for the History Engine gives them the opportunity to learn history by doing the work—researching, writing, and publishing—of a historian.

Teaching with Primary Sources offers free K-12 professional development thanks to funds provided by the Library of Congress. TPS-MTSU serves educators across Tennessee by improving the way primary sources are used to promote critical thinking in the classroom and across the curriculum. Teachers can start exploring primary sources today on our Web site and at the Library of Congress Teachers Page.
Funded by a grant from the Library of Congress, since 2004 TPS-Barat has provided free, engaging, inquiry-based learning materials that use Library primary sources to foster understanding and application of civics, literacy, history, math, science, and the arts.
