SUCCESS STORY: ALEXANDER DEJON – CULTIVATING SUCCESS THROUGH ORGANIC FARMING
Batch 2024
Alexander Dejon of Dinagat Islands turned his passion for farming into a sustainable livelihood through TESDA's scholarship programs. For nearly 10 years, Alexander worked at the DOLE Philippines Pineapple Plantation, where he was first exposed to the practices of organic farming. Inspired by what he saw, he envisioned establishing his own farm in his hometown of Libjo, Dinagat Islands.
To make this vision a reality, Alexander enrolled in the Special Training for Employment Program (STEP), completing training in Organic Agriculture Production NC II – Produce Organic Fertilizer at Rebamonte Integrated Farm. Determined to advance further, he later pursued the full qualification of Organic Agriculture Production NC II under TESDA’s Coconut Farmers Scholarship Program (CFSP). Through these programs, Alexander gained the knowledge, skills, and confidence to begin his journey as an organic farmer—bringing sustainable farming practices and inspiration to his local community.
