Summer Springboard defines medication as both prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) medication.
All medications must be identified in the Health History Form, found in the Parent Dashboard.
Duke University requires all summer programs and camps with minors to retain student medication (defined as both prescription and over-the-counter (OTC)) during the course of the program. Medication is kept locked in the Campus Director's possession.
Upon arrival and check-in at Summer Springboard, students will turn in any medications and retain possession again upon check-out. Students will come to the designated office to receive access to their medication, self-administer their medication as indicated on the Medicine Delivery Form, or as needed.
Medications must be in their original containers and labeled with the student’s name, the name of the medication, the directions for medication administration, and the date of the prescription.
The only exceptions will be for acne creams and urgent-need medication such as insulin, rescue asthma inhalers, epinephrine and glucagon devices, which a Participant may keep with them if approved by a physician in the signed Health Forms.
Medication will be self-administered by the student during the duration of the program, as provided in the - - -Medical Consent written authorization.
When traveling with prescription medicine, be sure to pack it in your carry-on in the original bottle/pack.
Make sure to pack plenty of anything you cannot live without! If you simply cannot get by without a certain brand of face wash or your daily protein bar, be sure to stock up beforehand.
We will not be making a special run to the store for snacks or forgotten items, so make sure you bring everything you need!
