Get Ready & Go on your First Day in Google Workspace.

What should you do on day one in Workspace? Let's take some tome to get set up and started with all the new messaging and collaboration tools your organization has enabled in Google Workspace.

Preparation

1. Get Chrome - Google Workspace is best experienced in the Chrome browser. If you do not see Google Chrome in your 'Start' menu, click here to download and install it now.

Mail

2. Browse your New Email - Click on the link below or copy and paste it into your Chrome browser to sign into your new email. Then make Gmail your Chrome homepage by following these instructions.

3. Enter your Username & Password - Enter your existing username and the password that was provided to you in a separate email.

4. Change your Password - If you have been given a temporary password to access you new Workspace account, you will be prompted to change your password when you log into Gmail. In the future, you can change your password by following the instructions below:

  • Sign into My Account.

  • In the 'Sign-in & Security' section, select 'Signing in to Google'.

  • Choose 'Password'.

  • Enter your new password information, then select 'Change Password'.

5. Verify your Mail has Migrated (if migrations are being preformed) - Ensure you have mail in your inbox. You should see all of your mail that was previously in your legacy Inbox. Your organization may also communicate specific information outlining what data will migrate and what data will not in an email communication.

6. Verify your Labels - Your folders in your legacy email system will be converted into Labels in Workspace (if your emails are being migrated). Verify your folders are now represented as Labels. Folders in your local personal archive will not be migrated.

7. Set up your Email Signature - Go into your Mail Settings and Create your Email Signature. Consider including your full name, title, phone number, and email address in the signature.

Meet

8. Meet with a Colleague - Gmail comes with built in Meet capabilities. Initiate a Meet videoconference call with a colleague and let them know you have gone Google!

Calendar

9. Set up your Calendar Preferences - Launch Google Calendar to configure the following settings by clicking the gear icon at the top right of your page.

10. Schedule an Event - Test your new calendar by Scheduling a New Event and inviting a colleague to the meeting.

Mobile

11. Set up your Mobile Device - If you have an iPhone, iPad, Android or Windows mobile device, you can now get easy access to your Google Workspace applications by following the simple steps outlined on the Mobile Device page.

Training

12. Complete your Training - Now that you are all set up on Workspace, be sure to complete your training. Click Here if you have not already taken training.
