Yet it is also hosts a world of sweated labour and social inequality. Westminster Abbey experiences its own changes and tensions at that time under the eccentric Dean, William Buckland.
When the body of a middle-aged chorister is found in the Abbey, the new Detective branch, at Scotland Yard, is at loggerheads with the Metropolitan Police. Why would anyone want to kill Thomas Marshall? Why, when someone has admitted the murder, and been convicted at the Old Bailey, does the case remained unsolved? In which of the various aspects of his life has Thomas given anyone a desire to get rid of him?
