The Temple College Science Challenge is a high school and community outreach program sponsored by the Science and Mathematics Departments with the assistance of various support organizations throughout the College. The Challenge consists of laboratory experiences and a competitive exam that allow participants to earn academic awards. The Science Challenge also serves as an immersive campus visit that includes a campus tour and opportunities to meet and converse with Temple College faculty, staff, students, and alumni.
The focus of the Science Challenge is multifaceted:
Recruitment of Talented Students
At the Science Challenge, talented high school students participate in friendly competitions as they interact with equipment, explore the facilities, and get to know the exceptional faculty in science and mathematics at Temple College.
Promotion of Temple College Sciences and Mathematics
Students learn about transfer scholarships and the advantages of a personalized community college experience that can better prepare them before transferring to a university setting.
Engagement of Local Business Partners
Local businesses are invited to showcase their place in the community and their support of education while recruiting future employees at the event.
Participants who make Temple College the first stop in their higher education journey will find a positive atmosphere that provides the chance to work more closely with faculty both in class and on projects and research than in a university setting.
