The brand is widely available in drugstores, supermarkets, and online retailers around the world. It was founded in 1915 by a young entrepreneur named Thomas Lyle Williams in New York City. The company was named after Williams' sister, Mabel, who inspired him to create a product that would enhance women's beauty. 

For some background context, Mabel was applying a mixture of Vaseline and coal dust to her eyelashes to give them a darker, fuller look, so Thomas adapted it with a chemistry set to produce a product sold locally called Lash-Brow-Ine. Since then, Maybelline New York has revolutionized as a brand, becoming a cosmetic staple throughout the decades. Maybelline has created a wide range of award winning, high quality makeup and skincare products, becoming a household name in the beauty industry.
