In 1952 Dior began designing dresses that would enhance the bodies of women. This is Dior with model Dorothy Emms wrapping material around the model to help make the desired dress. It was a classical strapless dress with a tight waist and poofy bottom skirt. It was in fashion in the 50's and what was more demanded. taking this in mind, the latest trend is what would sell most. Dior contributed to the small waist round skirt style. It gave women an atractive feminine look. It provided hope and inspiration during a time in which France was recovering from WWII. Which led to fashion being boosted to help inspire a new era of peace and hope.
This is Christian Dior's 1970 Spring Collection. It provided a new wave of femineity. Considering this was a time of growth and power for women. We see more masculine touches. Such as the pants. It gave women an inspiring uprising in fashion and power. Dior's way of expanding was by creating fashion in a time of change. Dior became a big name in the United States during the 1940's - 1950's after WWII. It created a sense of luxury. Something Americans loved to consume after battling through a hard time at war. It became a sign of status.
As we look more into the modern styles, Christian Dior mastered the use of influencing celebrities. Dior was able to be known all around the world by having celebrities that are globally known as, Jennifer Lopez, Kim Kardashian, Bella Hadid, Rhianna wear their brands and inspire others to follow up with the latest fashion trends. The world knows these artist and models and are influenced by their lifestyle. It's a great tactic for luxury brands like Christian Dior to be introduced to parts of the world that want to keep up with the aesthetic of each modern period.
