For those not familiar with Grace, WR Grace is a private global catalyst company specializing in a variety of industrial catalysts including polyolefin (CONSISTA ®, SHAC®, LYNX®, ActivCat® and POLYTRAK®), hydrogenation (RANEY®), refining catalysts as well as a materials technology business (functionalized silica and fine chemicals). Through a series of recent acquisitions, WR Grace is one of the world’s largest polyolefin catalyst suppliers as well as the licenser for the UNIPOL® PP process technology. We are looking to fill several roles within the catalyst design group as well as other roles within the larger specialty catalyst business. These individuals would primarily support new catalyst launches from the lab scale to full scale production. The summer internship in my group would focus on multi-step organic synthesis of catalyst components and be based in the greater Baltimore/DC, however, there are similar intern positions throughout the R&D organization and engineering groups that funneled through the one internship posting below. If any of your former colleagues would be interested in contributing to the next generation polyolefin catalyst development and working in the greater Baltimore/DC area (ie Columbia MD), please invite them to apply.

Summer Intern pursuing either bachelor or masters degree to synthesize, characterize and performance test polyolefin catalysts at the Columbia Maryland RD center
Interested graduate and undergraduate students can apply by November 3rd, 2023. Using link below.
AbbVie is a leading biopharmaceutical company committed to taking on the world’s toughest health challenges through innovative therapies. AbbVie Chemistry Connections is a program seeking to bring together undergraduate and graduate chemistry students with industry mentors.
Students will be able to:
• Learn about different chemistry careers within the pharmaceutical industry
• Seek career advice
• Gain support and guidance
• Develop industry connections
• Grow as researchers
Students will be placed in small groups with other chemistry students and matched with mentors representing different chemist roles at AbbVie. Mentor/mentee teams meet once a month for 4 to 6 months over Zoom. Topics to be discussed can include job searching, academic to industry transition, process vs. medicinal chemistry, “day in the life” of industrial chemists, resume and job talk workshops, and many more. Those interested in participating can contact Sasha Sundstrom or Stacy Fosu (sasha.sundstrom@abbvie.com, stacy.fosu@abbvie.com).
An information session will be held in November 2023.
