Ms. Quinn's 6th Grade Class
Greetings Sixth Graders and Families,
Welcome to a new school year! I am so excited to be your teacher and to embark on this journey through sixth grade with you. We have an amazing year ahead, filled with opportunities to grow both academically and personally. Albert Einstein once said, "The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing." This sense of curiosity will be our guiding light as we explore and learn together this year.
At our school, we believe that education is about more than just academics; it’s about developing the whole person. Throughout the year, we will focus on the four classical virtues: justice, temperance, fortitude, and prudence. These virtues will help us as we face challenges, make thoughtful decisions, and treat each other with kindness and respect.
Justice means treating others with respect and taking responsibility for their well-being- fairness.
Temperance is about mastering ourselves and our impulses for the sake of the happiness of those around us- acting the right way at the right time.
Fortitude means having the courage to face challenges and obstacles; persevering when things get tough.
Prudence is about having sound judgement and making wise choices- it's about being thoughtful.
I believe that a well-rounded education involves moments of challenge, a determination to overcome obstacles, and the compassion to understand and support one another. This is why I choose to teach at TPS.
We hold the bar very high for our students, but I know you will strive to overcome the challenges. Just remember, the view from the mountain tops of those challenges is worth all of the hard work!
Your teacher,
Ms. Quinn
