A Vision of Effective Mathematics
Complete a final revision and reflection for Assignment 1: Developing a Vision of Effective Mathematics Learning and Teaching. Attach or include a link to your finalized Vision of Effective Mathematics (see description below) on the discussion board. Examples could include; a digital presentation (powerpoint/Google slides), written reflection, sketchnote, Prezi, blog etc. Engage in a virtual gallery walk to analyze the evolution of thinking of your colleagues and respond to a minimum of four participants. Try to ensure there is equal distribution of responses amongst all participants. Please refer back to Module One: Key Messages: https://sites.google.com/teltgafe.com/ml2n/m1-evolving-practices/key-messages for the resources that support essential components of mathematics learning and teaching.
Initial Assignment was as follows:
Developing a Vision of Effective Mathematics Learning and Teaching
Throughout the learning, participants will be asked to consider:
- their vision of effective mathematics learning and teaching;
- what they feel are important components of a math program;
- the strengths, needs, learning style and developmental needs of the child and adolescent learner;
- the ethical and professional standards of practice
- how their vision is evolving as a result of the learning; and
- how they might use this vision to set directions, build relationships, develop staff, and improve the instructional program at either the school or district level.
Participants will create a digital representation of their vision, of math and leadership, and have opportunities in the course to revise the representation. At the conclusion of the course, they will finalize their digital representation. Throughout the course participants are asked to keep a running journal of personal reflections.
Participants will have an opportunity to view each other’s digital representation at the conclusion of the course.
See “Developing a Vision of Effective Mathematics Learning and Teaching” rubric below that will be used for assessment of this assignment.
