Developing a Vision of Effective Mathematics Learning and Teaching

Throughout the learning, participants will be asked to consider:

  • their vision of effective mathematics learning and teaching;
  • what they feel are important components of a math program;
  • the strengths, needs, learning style and developmental needs of the child and adolescent learner;
  • the ethical and professional standards of practice
  • how their vision is evolving as a result of the learning; and
  • how they might use this vision to set directions, build relationships, develop staff, and improve the instructional program at either the school or district level.

Participants will create a digital representation of their vision, of math and leadership, and have opportunities in the course to revise the representation. At the conclusion of the course, they will finalize their digital representation and complete a written reflection synthesizing their vision and its implementation. Throughout the course participants are asked to keep a running journal of personal reflections.

Participants will have an opportunity to view each other’s digital representation at the conclusion of the course.
