Tēnā koutou katoa. Nau mai, haere mai ki te whārangi ipurangi nei o Te Aka Taumatua.
Welcome to the Induction space for Te Aka Taumatua. Below you will find a 4-Step process that will help you to get started with Te Kura and learn how to navigate your new online learning environment successfully.
Please do your best to read all of the information below. There are instructional videos and tasks for you to complete. You can click on each Step below to navigate to a separate page for that step, or you can simply scroll down to see all 4 Steps in order. If at any stage you need help or support, please send us a text or email (see our contact details below).
Mahi Whakarite - Getting Set Up
Watch the Welcome Video below to meet one of the Kaimanaaki within Te Aka Taumatua, Whaea Katrina.
In this welcome video you will learn about Te Aka Taumatua, how to log in to your online learning space called 'My Te Kura', and hear information about this website and our 4-Step induction process.
See our suggested 'Getting Started Plan' below as a guide to help you complete the tasks set out for you in our 4-Step induction process during your first few weeks with Te Kura. While it would be good to try and work through these tasks within your first 2 weeks, it is okay if it takes you a little longer. Ākonga (students) who require Laptop or Internet assistance can apply for this through Te Kura (see how to do so below).
Below is a checklist of 12 tasks that will help you with setting up your device and your My Te Kura space. Please work through each item carefully by clicking on the icon for each step. If you already have a device, you can start at Number 3 of the checklist.
Whanaungatanga - Getting to Know You
It is really important that we get to know our tauira so we can help them make the most of their learning with Te Kura. The best way for us to do that is simply by having a kōrero!
Once you have completed the First Step in our 4-Step Induction process, please email your Kaimanaaki to organise a time to catch up over the phone. You will know who your Kaimanaaki is from reading the introduction email sent out to you. At this time it will be Whaea Lacreice. For our initial phone call, we would like to talk to the nominated supervisor of the new ākonga (student), but we are also happy to say kia ora to our ākonga if they would like to say hi. Please allow approximately 10 minutes for our phone call.
To make things super simple, feel free to copy and paste the kōrero below into an email and address it to:
lacreice.petaera@tekura.school.nz
Kia ora!
My name is ___ and I am the supervisor of ____ .
I would like to organise a time to kōrero with you. I am available on _____.
Ngā mihi,
_____
