Learn: we are learning how to use interesting language features OR speech marks with dialogue.

Create: an illustration using your chosen media (drawings, pixton, etc)

Share: your illustrated writing on your blog.

Term 4, Week 4: time to start writing unique stories, made up in your amazing imagination!

Learn: we are learning how to start sentences in interesting and different ways.

Create: your own giant robot using google drawings/pixton to illustrate your writing with.

Share: your illustrated writing on your blog during reflective blog post time.

Follow this link to your writing prompt for the week.

  1. Story starter: listen to the beginning of the story, look at the illustration (picture).
  2. Question time: discuss the questions in table groups.
  3. Carry the story on from: They had arrived...
  4. Sentence Challenge: start the sentences in your story in interesting and different ways.
  5. Edit: read over to check you spelling, punctuation and if you have started sentences in an interesting way.
  6. Perfect picture: Can you design your own giant robot on google drawing or illustrate your story using pixton? It could be friendly/helpful, or it could be evil and wicked!

The beginning of Term 4 will focus on Recount writing, an area that allows for plenty of student choice. We look forward to reading your completed mahi about past experiences.

Term 3 will start off with the writing topic, speeches. You will be able to to choose from topics like, to persuade, to inform, to retell and use your own passions and experiences to share an interesting speech with the audience.
