Homeroom Resources

What is the Homeroom?

Once you begin exploring InfoCenter, you’ll notice that Period 1 is Homeroom. Homeroom is where students do the following:

  • Access a wide range of curriculum resources

  • Submit Bi-Weekly Learning Plans, Submissions and Learning Assessments to your homeroom teacher

Note: All k-6 students within a family are assigned to the same Homeroom teacher. You will receive an email and phone call from your teacher before school begins.

What Homeroom Resources are available to TTA students?

Each student in Tech Trep Academy is provided a FREE comprehensive state standards-aligned curriculum. This curriculum is provided through several online resources, including; BrainPop, BrainPop Jr., Generation Genius, Kahn Academy, and more. Used alone, these resources provide a thorough comprehensive foundation for math, language arts, science, and social studies. Login Information can be found in Homeroom.

Tech Trep Academy provides every enrolled student in Kindergarten through 6th grade with access to this comprehensive core curriculum. We hope you will take advantage of these great opportunities to enrich your student’s Homeroom experience. The curriculum available from Homeroom Resources are in these categories:

  • Free Homeroom Resources

  • Optional Homeroom Resources (Group Buys)

  • Tech Trep Direct Classes

Types of Homeroom Resources

Each student in our program is provided a FREE Comprehensive Curriculum that aligns to State Standards. This option can be found as the first option listed when choosing your student’s course in Schedule Builder.

If you select this option, you may choose to use the FREE programs that are provided AND you may choose other supplemental curriculum to add. This course was previously called “Custom Built”. There are no fees deducted from a student’s funding allotment when choosing this first option.

The following resources are provided for all Kindergarten through 8th-grade students. Tech Trep Academy has a large number of optional homeroom resources for you to purchase with our group discount also.

Free Homeroom Resources – K–8

  • The Free Homeroom Resources are provided at NO COST and are not deducted from a student’s supplemental learning resources. See the list of Free Homeroom Resources below.

Optional Homeroom Resources – K–8

  • The Optional Homeroom Resources (Group Buys) are deducted from your supplemental learning resources. Each student may choose as few or as many of the offerings as desired. These courses are provided as group buys coordinated by Tech Trep Academy. NOTE: If any program does not have the minimum number of students sign up, families will be contacted and that resource will be removed. These options may not be fully comprehensive but can be used to supplement your other curriculum.

Tech Trep Direct Courses

  • If you choose a different Tech Trep Academy Direct course in the place of the FREE curriculum, there is a fee listed which will be deducted directly from the student’s funding allotment. We’ll register your student, pay for the class, and send you the login information in August. These other course offerings use a comprehensive state standards-aligned curriculum.

Signing Up for Homeroom Resources

FREE and OPTIONAL RESOURCE SIGNUPS:

To sign up for the optional homeroom resources, log in to InfoCenter, and select the red homeroom button, scroll down and you will see two blue bars. The first blue bar is the Homeroom Resources that are provided FREE to everyone. Login information will be added in August for most resources. Brainpop, Generation Genius, and Learn360 are available now.

The second blue bar is the Optional Homeroom Resources. Each resource has a cost that will be taken out of your student's supplemental learning funds. To request a resource, please scroll to the bottom of the page. You will see a pink button that says "Select optional homeroom resources." When you click that button, it will open a new page where you can select a student's name and any of the resources you would like for that student. You can come back and add additional resources until Aug 15th. After that date, resources will be available on a space-available basis. If you select a resource in error, please contact resources@techtrepacademy.com within 3 days to have it removed. After 3 days, it will only be able to be removed if we have not already ordered it for you or if we can transfer it to another student.

Resources will be set up AFTER August 15th and logins will be posted on the Homeroom Resource page when possible or emailed to families. With the large number of resources available this year, it will take our team a few weeks to get everything up and running. We will be working with companies to fill orders as quickly as possible. It will be September before many are fully set up.

If you have already ordered resources please go into InfoCenter and verify that the resources that you ordered are the ones that you still want. We are still working on setting up our box subscriptions for Kiwi Crate and Mel Science along with a few other resources. Please check back in August.

High School students have comprehensive state standards-aligned curriculum also! Choose from our many HS Anchor Classes. Each class is designed to allow students to set their own pace (within the semester) and choose how they will demonstrate their learning.

Comprehension tests on popular books, often used in public schools. Parents will be set up as teachers.

Accelerated Reader doesn’t include “books.” Renaissance creates Accelerated Reader quizzes for most fiction and nonfiction trade books as well as curated nonfiction articles.

We currently have almost 200,000 quizzes in our database (10,000 are in Spanish), and we add thousands more each year, for classic literature, award winners, long-time favorites, and many of today’s most popular titles.

Our quiz writers research the latest titles and write quizzes every week. Check out Renaissance Accelerated Reader Bookfinder® to see if we have a quiz for your child’s favorite book.

If it’s not there, click the Suggest Quizzes link. We’ll be happy to add it to our list!

Supplemental Resource

This is an supplement to learning, not a full curriculum. The program lets kids explore what they are interested in and does not place students at a specific grade level to work from or grade level progression.

Game play:

Students earn experience points and "coins" by completing learning activities (i.e. completing tasks in a particular order, solving a problem, answering questions, watching a short video, etc.)

They unlock new parts of the game or items for their avatar or house when they "level up" through accomplishing different tasks or lessons.

Grades 3-12

Math

Subscription length varies from 7-12 months depending on when the student's account is set up

Online math program for 3rd grade and up. Students can work through multiple grade levels in one year. Reading intensive.

All students will start with a placement test. We recommend that students who score lower than 15% be moved down a grade and students who score higher than 85% be moved up a grade.

Ages 8-13

Math

The digital practice includes games, problems, and puzzles divided into chapters and units that follow the same sequence found in the Beast Academy book series.

It is a full online curriculum that helps young students master fundamental math concepts with interactive practice and challenges, as well as detailed progress reporting.

Because the program includes challenging problems, Beast Academy generally recommends that students start about a level "behind" their current grade level. A student who is 8 or 9 years old, for example, should likely start with Beast Academy Level 2.

Subscription length lasts 1 year from account activation

Extra-curricular

Social and Emotional Learning Games help students practice and improve their social and emotional skills.

Zoo Academy, Zoo U, SS GRIN, Hall of Heroes, and Stories in Motion are interactive online programs in which students practice social and emotional skills through fun challenges.

Some skills that are addressed and improved in the games are impulse control, following directions, time management, communication skills, and appropriate social interactions.

Centervention programs are leveled by grade.

There is also a separate program for children with autism.

CodeMonkey is a leading educational game-based environment where millions of students learn to code in a real programming language.
