ICEBREAKER:
Create a selfie THROUGH VISUAL OR SOUND

Click on the link to visit the Padlet into which you will post your Selfie.

Let's Begin!

The purpose of this activity is to get to know your classmates for this GSL Classroom / COIL experience.

a Selfie made with
home objects OR THROUGH SOUND

Get creative with common objects or explore the most significant music. (In Padlet describe why that particular song or objects relate to you. How does it represent YOU?)

STEP 1: SelFIE

  • Listen to: Is it possible ever to be free of self-centred activity? Is there a real self? | J. Krishnamurti

  • Make a selfie, share a soundbite or an image (without necessarily including an image of yourself.) What are the objects or sound represent YOU?)

  • Go to the assigned space in the Padlet. Here you will post your selfie and a description. Also remember to post your name in your title. Answer: Why are you interested in participating in the COIL?

  • Try to get the attention of the group - remember this is your opportunity to meet interesting people from around the world. Feel free to express yourself, this is a safe place we all respect.

  • Be sure to include your name and email address into your description.

STEP 2: Reply to your peers

  • Once you have posted your message, reply to at least two other students that you don't know, comment on what you find interesting about their post.

  • The follow-up posts should consist of one well-crafted paragraph, including an introductory sentence and finishing the paragraph with a concluding statement or question.

  • Did you find something interesting in your peer's post? Do you observe any differences or similarities with your peers?

  • After someone comments on your post, reply or react to the observations received.

Step 3: Select a partner

  • Choose a partner, be sure to select a foreign partner.

  • Provide each other your contact information.

  • Schedule your first meeting and arrange the way you will be working.
