Welcome to the Music Department at Teaneck Public Schools, where the joy of music and the power of sound come together to create a harmonious learning experience for students from kindergarten through twelfth grade. Our department offers a comprehensive music education program that encompasses General, Vocal, and Instrumental Music, providing students with a diverse range of musical opportunities.

In our General Music students explore the foundations of music through singing, movement, and hands-on activities. Through engaging lessons and interactive experiences, students develop a strong understanding of musical concepts, such as rhythm, melody, harmony, and music appreciation. Students also  explore the world of digital music production, composition, and audio recording. They learn to create their own musical compositions, experiment with sound design, and develop a solid foundation in music technology that prepares them for the ever-evolving landscape of the music industry.

Our Vocal program offers students the opportunity to explore and refine their singing abilities. Through vocal training, ensemble rehearsals, and performances, students develop vocal technique, harmonization skills, and a deep appreciation for choral music. Whether singing classical pieces, contemporary songs, or participating in vocal competitions, students in our choral program build confidence, teamwork, and a sense of belonging in a close-knit musical community. 

For those interested in instrumental music, our department offers a robust instrumental program that allows students to learn and master a wide variety of instruments. From brass and woodwinds to strings and percussion, students have the opportunity to join orchestras, bands, and ensembles, where they refine their technical skills, ensemble playing, and musical expression. Our experienced faculty provides expert instruction and guidance, helping students reach their highest musical potential and instilling in them a deep passion for instrumental music.
