The very first step to securing a spot in the Teach For Nigeria Fellowship is turning in a good application. As the saying goes, first impressions last long. Your application is your first impression before the application review team and its quality determines if you would be allowed to proceed to the next stage. While you are eager and excited to register and turn in your application, you also need to take out time to put in the work required to submit a stellar application such that you create an impression and secure a spot at the next stage of the application process.
Remember, your application will be reviewed by a team of trained assessors who will also review thousands of applications from other candidates. To help you avoid common errors applicants make and guide you through how you can successfully apply, please read through the application tips below.
Read the application instructions carefully before you begin.
Teach For Nigeria is looking for individuals who are able to demonstrate their leadership potential during the application. As a result, you will be asked to write 3 essays describing your leadership experience, motivation and your long-term goals. We advise you to use the STAR approach (Situation, Task, Action and Result) to answer the application essays. This part requires you to reflect on your past experiences and future goals. We advise you to take your time to write this and carefully proofread your essays before submitting them.
Describe your personal achievements over the years.
Share your volunteer and job experiences.
Upload the original certificates of your credentials:
Bachelor’s degree certificate (only statement of results not more than 3 years would be accepted)
S.S.C.E (WAEC, NECO or NABTEB) certificate
NYSC certificate or discharge letter
Birth Certificate
Proofread your application to avoid grammatical errors.
“Do not exaggerate your achievements”: Never lie on your application form. If you do, you are likely to be caught during the selection process.
Applicants who scale through the registration and application stages would be invited for an online aptitude test.
