Testing is an extremely important part of the matriculation process. In order to gain eligibility for hiring, all corps members must past their certification exams. While we don’t believe testing indicates your success as a teacher, it is a necessary hurdle. We want to acknowledge that certification tests, like many of our nation’s standardized tests, are becoming increasingly difficult and are also biased. This has resulted in disproportionate outcomes for educators across the nation. In spite of these challenges, we have a fundamental belief in your ability to become amazing teachers and to successfully jump this hurdle. We are more committed than ever, to ensure that we are supporting all of our corps members and creating a diverse pool of educators in our communities.

Below is a brief overview and deadline chart of testing related action items. Please refer to Google Classroom for more detailed information and submissions.
- Testing Webinar: This webinar provides incoming corps members with an overview of the testing process. If you missed the test prep call for your deadline, you can access it below.
- Pre-Test Exercise: A two-part series in which incoming corps members are asked to:
- Read articles and reflect on test bias and how it has impacted them in their lives and how it might impact their students
- Participate in exercises that ask corps members to reflect on their study habits and test taking skills
- Diagnostic Tests: Full-length assessments that will give you a “predictive” score on your content tests
- Study Plan: A detailed plan crafted after the completion of subject-specific diagnostic tests to guide corps members as they prepare for certification exams
- Test Registration: Register for subject- specific certification exams
- Testing Deadline: Deadline to take subject-specific certification exams
