Social Emotional Learning

Welcome to the Walled Lake Consolidated School District's Social Emotional Learning page!

WHAT IS social and emotional learning (SEL)? Social and emotional learning is the process through which children and adults understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions.

Families are faced with so many challenges during this pandemic and we have created this site to provide a variety of resources for families. Social-emotional, health, and wellness of every child, every day is at the the forefront of our work. Students, families, and staff will benefit from the tools and resources found on this site. If you need additional resources please contact your student's classroom teacher, school counselor or administrator.

To navigate this website you will see multiple tabs across the top of your screen. Our home page will provide an overview of Social Emotional Learning and vital resources for anyone is a crisis moment. Resources on the site have been organized by grade level. Each tab will provide parents valuable resources to help support the social and emotional growth of your child at home. We realize that this has been a difficult time for everyone, so the Adult Resources tab will provide parents/guardians/caregivers resources they may need to manage the anxiety and stress that has become common during this pandemic.

Please know this is a work in progress. As new resources become available, we will add them to the site. Please come back often to see what has been added. We hope you find this to be a valuable resource for promoting social and emotional health.
