Mr. Tyler Frantz- Elementary STEM/Instructional Coach
After teaching fourth grade at Pine Street Elementary for more than a decade, I stepped into the role of Elementary STEM Coach in PASD in 2018. I now serve as a resource to teachers for STEM integration, and teaching STEM as a related arts class for grades 3,4,5 at all four elementary buildings. My favorite part of the job is working with kids and "tricking them into learning" while having fun along the way. STEM skills force students to think critically, problem solve, work as a team and communicate newfound knowledge to others. It's an exciting way to learn, and I consider it a real honor to do what I do for a living.
I also coach the Palmyra Middle School Girls Soccer Team, which is a lot of fun. In fact, I played soccer at Lebanon Valley College, where I earned my Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education way back in May of 2007. In September of 2011, I graduated with a Masters degree from Wilkes University (in Educational Development and Strategies), earned a second Masters (in STEM Education) from LVC in December of 2020, and finished my third Masters (in Environmental Education) from Slippery Rock University in July of 2025. I've also served as an adjunct professor for LVC, instructing graduate-level teachers about STEM education.
In addition to teaching, I am an award-winning outdoor writer/photographer. I contribute regularly to Pennsylvania Game News, PA Angler & Boater, and several other outdoors-based publications. I'm past president of the Pennsylvania Outdoor Writers Association, and I've even compiled a book on PA Deer Hunting for the Pennsylvania Game Commission. Visit www.naturalpursuitoutdoors.com to view some of my work.
My wife Erin (also a teacher), son Foster, and daughter Fynlee reside with me on a 3.5-acre hobby farmette just north of Palmyra. We love having a little space to call our own, and it's just the right size to keep up with considering our busy lifestyles.
I'll leave you with words of wisdom from the great Henry David Thoreau, who once wrote, "I can think of no more encouraging fact than the unquestionable ability of man to elevate his life through conscious endeavor." What that means is that there is no cooler thing in this world than knowing that you can make your life better if you really set your mind to it. You'll be amazed by the power of the mind when you unlock its true potential.
The sky is the limit. Shoot for the stars kids!
