In 3rd grade, we strive for deep conceptual understandings of all math concepts taught. Our goal is to develop students who are strong problem-solvers and critical thinkers.
While we teach a variety of strategies, students are not forced to solve in one particular way! I like to tell the kids that we're building our "math tool belts". We spend time and effort learning different strategies, but in the end, you have to choose what works for you!
