I am an 8th grader who wants to attend the Business Academy. How do I sign up?

Attend the Academy informational presentations with your parents, held at your school each fall (see district calendar).

Attend the Academy Open House with your parents, held each fall at Indian Trail High School and Academy (see district calendar).

You must apply (sign-up) with your school counselor or submit paperwork to the school (which school?), no later than the deadline specified each year. Typically the deadline will be in December (prior to the year you want to start attending) or January (of the year you want to start attending).

We typically have more students apply than there are open spots. Shortly after the application deadline, a lottery is held to select the students who will be able to become part of the Business Academy.

Parents and students are then notified (typically within 24-48 hours) on whether they have been selected.

Parents must confirm their student's selection into the Business Academy. Confirmation must be done by method and date specified each year. Selections not confirmed by the deadline are forfeited and the opening is offered to the next student on the waiting list.

What are the advantages of an "Academy"?

The school-within-a-school concept has been a successful model Wording- for many schools around the state. Similar to charter schools, we feel that the academy structure often fosters a more meaningful and effective relationship between teacher and student, student and their peers, and allows for the district to provide an educational program that is individualized to students' interests. We strongly believe that this directly contributes to our students' success. (future insertion of success stories of past students). Additionally, students in the Business Academy at ITHSA are taking courses with peers that share similar academic interests and dedication to their studies, while maintaining connections with the larger student body.

I am a student that may be transferring into the district. Can I still attend the Business Academy?

As long as your primary residence is in Kenosha Unified School District borders, you may attend our academy.
