The Business Academy at Indian Trail Academy offers students the chance to take the first step towards a professional future in business. Whether you are interested in starting your own business or obtaining a position in a top corporate firm, the Business Academy is an excellent opportunity for students to gain knowledge, understanding, and experience. Students will learn to manage personal finances, challenges, advertising and sponsorship work in our Marketing and Business classes. Students enrolled in the Business Academy have the opportunity to earn Gateway Transcripted Credits.
Business Academy students will further their business acumen while completing the Innovation Lab capstone course. This course requires students to utilize every piece of business knowledge and understanding they have acquired during their time in the Business Academy program.
This full year program allows Business Academy students to experience all aspects of creating and running a new international business. Business Academy students will create and launch a business, manage and run the business, serve in key business roles, and are completely responsible for every aspect of market potential, product design, product marketing, marketing campaigns, as well as product sales, profits (or losses) --- every aspect of a real-life business--- all in a safe, international virtual environment.
Business Academy students can further their experience through involvement in a nationally recognized high school/college organizations such as DECA (Distributive Education Clubs Association). These groups are designed to allow students to compete against other schools in “business-like” discussions and debates, attend leadership conferences, and take part in numerous community service projects. Students can forge lasting relationships with their peers while completing a variety of activities. Involvement in DECA look great on college applications and future resumes.
Our popular school store, “Hawk Shop”, offers students the opportunity to manage and operate an actual retail store. Students order merchandise, assist in the distribution process, work as security, handle cash transactions, and even manage the staff! The Hawk Shop is an excellent way for students to gain practical, hands-on experience.
