6th Grade Choir

All 6th Grade Singers

All students who select choir as an elective at McLean 6th Grade Center will be in this choir! As an ensemble students will focus on building a healthy vocal tone through singing exercises and games, strengthening music reading and literacy skills, and developing musicality and teamwork skills through choral singing. This class meets across several class period but will perform as a choir at concerts and have the option to participate in benchmark and solo contests throughout the year.

Show Choir

Auditioned Pop Group

Membership is open by audition only to all performers who exhibit exemplary performance aptitude and work ethic. This group currently meets two times a week before school and performs on all McLean Choir Concerts and a few extra performances throughout the year.

PALS Choir

PALS and RISE Class

Membership is open to 8th graders only and is a part of the PALS program at McLean. This class operates much like a general education music class with elements of sining, instrumental music, and movement. Please contact Mr. Crawford or Ms. Smith, the PALS coordinator, for more information.

Treble Choir

Beginning Treble Singers

Membership is open to all treble voices with limited choral experience. As an ensemble students will focus on building a healthy vocal tone through singing exercises and games, strengthening music reading and literacy skills, and developing musicality and teamwork skills through choral singing. Students will perform as a choir at concerts and have the option to participate in solo contests throughout the year.

Tenor/Bass Choir

Beginning and Intermediate Tenor and Bass Singers

Membership is open to all 7th and 8th grade tenor and bass voices (typically boys). As an ensemble students will focus on building a healthy vocal tone through singing exercises and games, strengthening music reading and literacy skills, and developing musicality and teamwork skills through choral singing. Students will perform as a choir at concerts and events and have the option to participate as a soloist in contests throughout the year.

Chamber Choir

Intermediate Treble Singers

Membership is auditioned for 7th and 8th grade treble voices (typically girls with 1-2 years choral experience). As an ensemble, students will focus on strengthening healthy vocal technique, advancing music reading and literacy skills, and empowering the student’s sense of choral and individual musicality and expression. Students will perform at concerts and events throughout the year and are encouraged to perform individually at Region Choir Auditions and Solo and Ensemble.

Bravo Choir

Advanced Tenor and Bass Singers

Membership is open to 7th and 8th grade tenor/bass voices by audition (typically boys with 1-2 years choral experience). As an ensemble, students will focus on strengthening understanding of healthy vocal technique, building advanced music reading and literacy skills, and empowering the student’s musicality chorally and individually. Students will perform as a choir at concerts and events throughout the year and are required to perform individually at Region Choir Auditions or Solo and Ensemble.

Bella Voce

Advanced Treble Singers

Membership is open to exceptional 7th and 8th grade treble voices by audition only. As an ensemble, students will focus on advancing healthy vocal technique, expanding musical understanding and literacy, and empowering the student’s individual sense of musicality as it applies to the combined musicality of the group. Students will perform as a choir at concerts and events throughout the year and are required to perform individually at either Region Choir Auditions or Solo and Ensemble. Students are encouraged to participate in both.
