Mr. Wilks plays electric violin, viola, cello and electric bass on a song called The Red Lion! This was a favorite song of my students for the past few years. You will need to decide which stringed instrument you want learn this year, if you haven't decided already!
When you take orchestra, you will learn on acoustic instruments, not electric, but you can switch to electric instruments some day if you want!
This is an easy song you can learn to play this year called Aura Lee. We will learn many, many songs this year!
Everyone should learn how to read music! Beginners: Did you learn to read treble clef and bass clef in Elementary school? That's ok if you didn't. Learning to read music will be taught in the first six weeks of the year and we will work on it all year long to get better and better at reading music! : ) All grades, if you struggle with reading notes. Please talk to Mr. Wilks and I will set up a tutorial for you!
