Overview
The purpose of this online document is to provide students and parents and overview of what virtual learning will look like in RMS Bronco Band at the beginning of the 2020-2021 School Year. We know there are a lot of questions on how things will work. Your Band directors are working hard to find answers to these questions so that we may have a successful start to the school year. Rental and Purchase of Student-Owned Instruments

During this school year, it is highly recommended that students rent their instruments from an instrument store to ensure full safety during our year of COVID. Lucky for you we have a music store on contract that has all the equipment and information you need. Please Ellis Co. Music if you would like to rent an instrument for this school year.

The cost of renting an instrument from the district is $40 per semester.
There will be an Instrument Pick-Up for all Band Students on Friday, September 4, 2020. Families will park on the Rosemont Side, outside of the band room in between the Middle School and the Elementary (approximately half-way into the parking lot). Students will approach the instrument station outside with a mask to retrieve their instruments. Attendance
Attendance for virtual instruction will be taken daily by the classroom teacher. Students will be counted present on days in which they engage in one of these four methods.
Students engage in online learning and demonstrates progress with lessons, assignments, and teacher instruction.
Students directly interact with their classroom teacher and teacher confirms student engagement for a particular day.
Student/teacher interaction can be through multiple methods including telephone or digital means.
Students submit an assignment through the learning management system on a particular day.
If a Student does miss a scheduled check-in with their teacher during their synchronous instruction time, recorded videos will be available here, on this website to view another time.
Curriculum
Curriculum
During Virtual Learning, the district is focusing on two types of instruction that are referred to as Synchronous Instruction and Asynchronous Instruction, with a heavy focus on Asynchronous Instruction.
Asynchronous Instruction provides students with teacher assigned lessons, tasks or assignments for students to work on at their own pace. This is where the bulk of assignments will be for band. Students will be able to access their assignments, videos and more on the BitMoji Classroom at the home page of this website.
Synchronous Instruction provides LIVE, real time teaching with two-way teacher/student interaction. The Zoom Schedule for LIVE instruction will be posted on the Bitmoji Classroom on the Homepage of this website.

The following platforms will be used during virtual learning:
BitMoji Classroom - Students will use the Bitmoji Classroom on the Homepage of this website to get all information they will need for the week.
Google Classroom - Students will complete assessments and turn in materials during the week
Music First - Students will submit recordings and performance videos to MusicFirst during virtual learning.

During virtual learning, families will be responsible for ordering their own supplies to start off the year. Please click your instrument below to view the amazon list of your supply requirements.

Objective Sheets will be on the Bitmoji Classroom on the front page. All assignments shaded in grey will go into the focus gradebook. These grades will include google form quizzes, performance assessments and recordings.
Points Reward System
Points Reward System
During virtual learning we will be introducing our Points Reward System. This program is in addition to grades. Students will have the ability to earn points based on the amount of work they do. These assignments will be on the objective sheet mentioned above. Students will have an opportunity to earn up to a certain amount of points each 6 weeks. There will be incentives and prizes that students will earn based on the points they have earned. Get ready to have some fun!

Band Fees - Due to Virtual Learning and an extended start date, we are still looking into cost for the Band Fee. Everything we do in band to make band fun requires some cost. Please keep an eye out for what that means.

To ensure the proper learning environment, students will be required to do the follow these rules:

We will be using an app called BAND. You can keep track of all of band events, communications and more via this app and is very easy to use. Please follow the steps below to receive all the communication you need for band.
Download the BAND app for the Apple app store or Google Play Store, or go to band.us to create an account.
Once you have created an account, click the following link to join the band for this school year. https://band.us/@rmsbroncoband2021
A Band Director will accept you into the app and you will be able to receive all communications from the band throughout the year. Please note, in order to receive better communication, please turn on your notifications.
