A comprehensive public high school, R. L. Paschal High School first opened its doors in 1885 as Fort Worth High School. Paschal exists today as a 6A high school with an enrollment of 2200 students. Despite the challenges facing inner city schools, Paschal continues its tradition of academic excellence, graduating 3 National Merit Finalists and 6 Commended Scholars in 2023. Paschal also had a total of 65 students receive the AP Scholar, Scholar with Distinction, National AP Scholar, Dual Credit or On Ramps honor. Paschal boasts a full array of men's and women's sports including football, baseball, swimming, wrestling, cross country, golf, soccer, tennis, volleyball, softball, and track and field. Paschal offers a robust visual and performing arts program, JROTC, and a large variety of clubs and organizations.
AP Capstone is a College Board diploma program that equips students with independent research, collaborative teamwork, and communication skills that are increasingly valued by colleges.
Students will take both AP Capstone Seminar and AP Capstone Research as well as honors level or above in all their core classes, all four years of their high school career.
Students who earn a score of 3 or higher in both Capstone classes, as well as on 4 additional AP exams, will recieve a College Board Capstone Diploma. Students who earn a 3 or higher in both Capstone classes, but do not earn a 3 or higher on 4 additional exams, will earn the College Board Capstone Certificate.
The Computer Science Program at Paschal provides students with four years of Computer Science education, which includes at least two computer languages.
AP Computer Science Principles and AP Computer Science A are both included as part of this program. Students will learn in a virtual reality lab.
Students have the opportunity to join the Computer Science Club which provides opportunities for students to travel to take part in statewide competitions.
Students will earn certifications in programs such as Oracle Java SE and Microsoft Technology Associate.
