This is my SIXTH year at South Hills High School. I have a Bachelor's degree in History, focusing on the Pacific Campaign and the Native American Wars from Cameron University, and a Master's degree in History, focusing on Latin America from Midwestern State University. When I am not teaching, I make my best attempt at The Tactical Games, hunting, fishing, or studying my Bible. 

I am married to a pretty cool lady and she is well-known at South Hills. Ms. Battles is an amazing teacher, coach, and excellent cook! 

Our baby is Kevlar Calzada. He is incredibly spoiled and definitely a "mama's boy". Ms Battles allows him to get away with almost anything! We also have a kitty, Claire aka Mama, and a huge guinea pig named Sydney but she goes by Squeakers. She is always squawking for her favorite treat, Timothy Biscuits

I am the proud dad of two amazing kids. My daughter, Abigail, is currently working on two MA degrees in social work. My son, Jeremiah, works in Oklahoma City. They are pretty cool kiddos and know a ton of '70s songs!

I am also known as "Coach Cal" and I am the Head wrestling coach and assistant coach to Coach D. Hernandez with girls' flag football. Make sure and follow us on Instagram: southills_wrestling as we make another march to STATE!

Finally, I love my job! My students are brilliant and can accomplish anything they set before themselves. We will learn a lot about the American Government, why it is set up like it is, the crazy laws, see elections, and prepare to graduate.
