I am very excited for my sixth year as part of the Western Hills Cougar family!
I taught elementary school for 11 years - including three at Western Hills Elementary. I taught 4th-grade bilingual for all but one of those years, when I taught 3rd-grade bilingual. I also taught a Regular Program class. This will be my sixth year teaching high school.
I will also once again be coaching Junior Varsity Boys soccer, a sport that is near and dear to my heart (Força Barça!).
I am a huge believer in the importance of literacy, so students will always find a robust library in my classroom - both fiction and nonfiction in English and Spanish. I am happy to lend books to any student who wishes to borrow one.
I am a native of New York, the oldest son of immigrants from Ecuador. I grew up and went to high school in Miami.
I am a proud graduate of TCU (go Frogs!), where I majored in Journalism and English and minored in Political Science. Prior to teaching, I worked as a reporter and editor at the Star-Telegram for 13 years.
My wife and I have been married for 27 years. We have three children: a son (age 18) and two daughters (ages 16 and 12), all of whom attend Fort Worth ISD schools.
My interests are music (especially indie rock and hip hop), sports (especially soccer and basketball), travel and food.
