My name is Whitney Peters and I taught newcomer students English Langugae Arts for 6 years at the International Newcomer Academy, Eglish 2 at Polytechnic High School in Fort Worth, TX and now I work an Instructional Coach. Before I taught 6th grade ELAR/ESL and Pre-Literate English Language Learners at the International Newcomer Academy in Fort Worth, Texas.
I participated in the Fulbright for Teachers of Global Classrooms (TGC) program during 2019-2020. I traveled to Canada with my cohort in 2022.. The TGC program is a year long program including a Global Education course, a symposium, and travel for 2-3 weeks to explore classrooms and culture in a host country.
Before teaching I lived in Managua, Nicaragua working in solidarity with a local development non-government organization. I have also lived and worked in rural North Carolina in poverty education. I am always working to expand my view of the world, unlearn biases gained in a white supremacist society, and grow in how to be more inclusive and anti-racist.
