Setting is something I think is important when it comes to reading. I enjoy being transported somewhere, whether it’s a place I know intimately or a place that I have never been. I prefer a good road trip to flying from place to place for this very reason: I want to soak up every bit of the places and spaces I’m in, visiting the weird, the wonderful, and the iconic things that make a place what it is.
Every state in the U.S. has something new and different that readers can learn about through reading.
Let’s take a trip together across the 50 states of YA. Click on each state as I have included a wide range of fiction genres like realistic, historical, mystery, fantasy, as well as some nonfiction reads. On this reading road trip, some reads offer a deep dive into the things that make their state special while others offer thoughtful critiques and insights into what it means to live in a specific area of the country.
You can map out and plan your Reading Road Trip in several different ways...
You can read a book from each state going alphabetically starting with Alabama and ending with Wyoming;
You can read a book from each state starting with the first state that entered the union, Delaware, to the last state, Hawaii;
You can just select a state at random at visit where you wish to.
