ELA and Math Lessons

English reading and writing lessons will help students to acquire and maximize habits and skills of a life-long reader. Additionally, students should engage in academic conversations, write, read, and be read to on a daily basis with opportunities for cross-curricular content and student choice.

Students:

A. Will gain command of the necessary skills needed to become successful in analyzing and interpretation of various types of literary and informational text.

B. Are expected to understand, recognize and distinguish between a variety of genres in order to consider literary structure, style, and themes.

C. Are expected to learn how to analyze expository, descriptive, persuasive and argumentative texts and determine the author’s purpose for writing each.

Basic Math lessons will help students to acquire and maximize habits and skills of a life with bills and equations. Additionally, students should engage in academic conversations, read, solve and practice math skills on a daily basis with opportunities for cross-curricular content and student choice.

Students:

A. Will gain command of the necessary skills needed to become successful in analyzing and interpretation of various types of math situations and basic problems.

B. Are expected to understand, recognize and distinguish between a variety of problems in order to consider mathematical orders, structure, and equations.

C. Are expected to learn how to organize, compute, and solve real world math problems.
