Each year, our members are expected to complete service hours according to their grade level.
9th grade - 20 hours (4 per six weeks)
8th grade - 15 hours (3 per six weeks)
7th grade - 10 hours (2 per 6 weeks)
When organizations request volunteers from NJHS, we will send out a Sign-up genius link through REMIND (parents might need to help you sign-up). PLEASE DO NOT sign-up for an event if you can not work the entire time, and if you already have all of your hours, give other members an opportunity to work these events.
Service Hours include anything that you do without compensation for anyone outside of your immediate family (see "Ideas for Community Service" for more details).
Service Forms (to the right)
Single Event Forms are used for a single event that starts and stops on the same day.
Multi-day Event Forms should be used when you are volunteering with the same organization or event over several days. DO NOT use this form to record different events. They will not be accepted.
Always take a service form with you when you attend a service event. Usually, you leave your form at a volunteer table and pick it up at the end of the event.
Collect a signature from the volunteer coordinator on site. If you forget, a parent may sign to verify you went, but we ask that you make every effort to get a supervisor's signature whenever possible.
Keep a copy of your service hours in your NJHS folder and keep track of your hours on a Personal Service Tracker.
Turn-in hours to any NJHS sponsor (listed below) or you can email a clear photo or scan of your document to lisa.heick@fwisd.org
