NOTE: STUDENTS ARE NEVER "AUTOMATICALLY REMOVED" FROM MEMBERSHIP. All members remain members until the Faculty Council dismisses them, even in cases of voluntary resignation.
Once you are a member of NJHS, my goal as your sponsor is to help keep you a member in good standing. Occasionally, students are placed on warning when they fall below membership standards in one or more areas of membership which include:
ACADEMICS: Falling below a 3.5 cumulative, unweighted GPA (3.75 for members inducted in 2025 and beyond)
SERVICE: Failure to complete the required number of service hours before our documented deadlines.
9th grade - 20 hours (4 per six weeks)
8th grade - 15 hours (3 per six weeks)
7th grade - 10 hours (2 per six weeks)
CHARACTER: Receiving a campus discipline referral.
CITIZENSHIP: Failure to attend regular meetings. We know our members are very active around campus and understand when you are unable to attend meetings. We ask that if you miss a meeting, you contact your sponsor or officer to request the meeting minutes so you don't miss any critical information.
LEADERSHIP: Throughout the year, each member will be asked to serve as an officer to give them experience in leading a small group.
Each student is given due process which is regularly reviewed and/or acted on by our Faculty Council - even in cases of resignation.
