Community Storehouse
Community Storehouse activated Emergency Assistance protocols on March 16, 2020, in response to the COVID-19 crisis. Community Storehouse has provided to almost 10,000 individuals as of July 15th.We anticipate that these service numbers will only continue to grow as the need in the community increases, and we continue to communicate to the families we serve on a regular basis that we are here for them. West Aid
Weekly Food AssistanceWest Aid is open Wednesdays and Fridays from 8:30 until noon for people in need of food. You will be given a sack of groceries, a bag of meat, and produce. Anyone who is in need of food is welcome. No ID or proof of address is required at this time. Mission Arlington
Mission Arlington emergency assistance supports families in crisis. Their service operation stays open six days each week, in order to be here when people need help. This is especially important for families with working adults. Crises in people’s lives happen all times of day and night, and they are here to help. Childcare is provided for parents when they are on campus receiving assistance.Food and Clothing:• Groceries: We supply individuals and families with short-term supplies of groceries designed to last for several days, based on family size.• Clothing: Provides clothes and shoes for children, youth, and adultsFinancial Assistance:• Rent: Assists with partial rent payments in order to help families through a crisis, and/or to prevent a family from losing the stability that a home provides.• Utilities: We work with utility companies to provide partial payments to help keep a family’s utilities (electricity, water, gas, etc.) on, so that they will be able to stay in the home.• Prescriptions: We partner with our medical clinic to provide medications for people free of charge, and on a limited basis we help to pay a portion of a prescription cost to help a family obtain the medicine they need.• Gas Vouchers: We also help with gas vouchers to assist someone with transportation to and from a job interview.Home Items:• Baby Items• Bicycles• Computers• Household Items: Items such as blankets, dishes, pictures, silverware and all other sorts of items are provided to help people in crisis.• Identification: provide support to people with different kinds of identification needs such as, driver’s licenses, identification cards, and birth certificates.• Medical Equipment: We loan walkers, wheelchairs, canes, and other types of medical equipment needs• Personal Needs: Personal hygiene items (soap, toothpaste, shampoo, razors, diapers, baby formula)Every service provided here is free of charge. SNAP
The Texas Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) is an entitlement program that provides monthly benefits to assist low-income households in purchasing the food they need to maintain adequate nutritional levels. People also can buy garden seeds with SNAP benefits. Benefits are distributed through an Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card, the Lone Star Card, which essentially serves as a credit card exclusively for food benefits.In general, these benefits are for any food or food product intended for human consumption. Benefits may not be used for items such as alcoholic beverages, cigarettes, paper products or food bills you owe.
