Action and Expression refers to the way in which learners can access and navigate a learning environment, as well as the methods they may express ideas, and plan and organize their thinking. Options for the different ways in which individuals might communicate, access learning materials, and manage information allow different learners to participate and convey their thoughts. The tools that a learner might use are not always related to computer technology, but there are many devices, programs and websites that can assist in this area. Incorporating technological tools into the practice of Universal Design for Learning not only provides a myriad of options for learners to express and manage their thinking, but it helps classrooms meet the needs of 21st Century learning, where technology is ubiquitous and rapidly advancing ( Smith Canter, King, Williams, Metcalfe & Rhys Myrrick Potts, 2017).
