Featuring Oscar Peterson's, "Hymn to Freedom"Visit the "Music Monday" page for details.
Johann Sebastian Bach was Oscar Peterson's favourite composer of all time! Oscar Peterson insisted all of his jazz piano students study the music of J.S. Bach. Interestingly, Bach was not famous when he was alive. He didn't become famous until 100 years after he died, when another composer (Felix Mendelssohn) began performing Bach's music. Today, J.S. Bach is considered to be the greatest composer and musician that ever lived!
One of Bach's most famous pieces is his "Toccata and Fugue in D minor" which he wrote and used to test out the organs he was sent to repair and maintain.
