West Humber Collegiate is the home of Toronto District School Board's very few Percussion Ensemble credit courses!

The course is extremely popular, and you can learn: drum set, marching drum line, "STOMP" percussion, and African Hand drums. We have played for the Metro Bowl Championship Football game at the Rogers Centre as the featured drumline for seven year in a row, live on Rogers Cable and also on City TV! WHCI Drum line has also played for over 2000 people annually at the Martin Luther King Celebrations at Hamilton Place and Roy Thompson Hall each year since 2007!

The program has top-of-the-line Drum line equipment, thanks to Mr. Steve Butterworth, Yamaha's Band and Orchestra President, and Mr. Chris Reesor, Yamaha's Percussion Rep! WHCI’s Drum line does a professional job with top-notch equipment!

The Percussion Ensemble also incorporates professional calibre TABLA and DHOL drums (from India) and 28 African djembe drums along with xylophone, bells, timpani and TONS of other percussion!

To earn the grade 11 or 12 credit, you must take the grade 9 or grade 10 course first. Drum Line/Percussion Ensemble is open to anyone and has no pre-requisite for the grade 10 credit! Anyone can learn percussion at WHCI!
