Music

Music at West Hill is a well-established program that exposes students to many facets of music education. Students have the opportunity to express themselves through the playing and singing of a wide selection of repertoire.

Extra-curricular ensembles include Wind Ensemble and Choir. Each year music students proudly showcase their talent by hosting an annual Winter Arts Showcase in December and participating in Coffee House performances in the Spring.

In grade 9 we offer two choices for music courses: Instrumental (AMI)  and Vocal Music (AMV).

Grade 9 Instrumental Music (AMI1O1 - Experienced, AMI1OA - Beginner)

Students in grade 9 instrumental music choose a wind, brass or percussion instrument to play. Beginning students will learn how to read music for the very first time and will be taught how to play their instrument. Advanced students will enjoy perfecting their skills and will perform with the Wind Ensemble.

Grade 10-12 Instrumental Music

Students in grades 10-12 will continue to perfect their instrument skills while learning intermediate and advanced music theory and history.
