Hello everyone. My name is Matthew and I am the teacher for Room 208. On this page I will post work the class has been up to as well as additional activities that can be done at home with your child
At school this year the staff and I will be wearing masks. This is to protect you and us from getting sick. We will be smiling underneath our masks because we are looking forward to you coming back
This week we learned about Kwanzaa and made Kinaras. We also focused on Hanukkah and learned about Menorah's as well as made stars. Students were also introduced to the game of Dreidel. The week ended with a wonderful sing along and a story time.

This week we did some work with coins and recognizing them. Students went over what the coins are and what there value is. They also worked on matching coins. We also did some art work for the holidays with snowflakes and Stars of David.

This week we did a lot of work on the winter and what we should wear outside. We did art where we recognized clothing and pasted on the appropriate part of the body. At the end of the week we had a virtual dance party!

We were so happy to be in class on the 17th. This week we did some work on Diwali and watched some videos about it. We also did work on our favourite fruits and vegetables.

For this week unfortunately we were virtual so that we could all stay safe in our classroom. The class enjoyed virtual lessons over Zoom and interacting with staff in the room. We are so excited to go back into the classroom next week!
This week students completed Remembrance Day activities to prepare for the virtual ceremony next week. We made some poppies as well as watched videos about Remembrance Day and what we should do during the assembly.

This week students engaged in Halloween type activities for the week. We ended the week with a virtual dance which the students loved! Students also completed art activities for the week.

This was a busy week for 208. We participated in the Downie Wenjack Secret Path walk Friday morning and watched some videos/stories about Downie Wenjack. We also talked about Halloween and what song we would want for the dance next Friday. Students also enjoyed time outside (when it wasn't raining) and did their work bin activities.

This was a short week for us all after a great Thanksgiving weekend. Students worked on an apple unit this week. We went over what we can make with apples and everyone agreed on apple pie. Students also completed a fall craft with trees and birds.

Student this week were hard at work completing activities associated with Thanksgiving. We talked about what we eat at Thanksgiving as well as making cornucopias. Students also did some planting outside of bulbs which we loved! We also participated in the Terry Fox Walk around the school. It was a busy week for us all! The students in 208 continued to work hard this week. We participated in Orange Shirt Day activities by listening to stories about Residential Schools as well as other videos. Outside students tied orange string to the fence and banged on a drum. We also completed work bin tasks, setting the table for breakfast and walks around the yard. The students in Room 208 were ready to work this week. Students worked on their work bin tasks in the morning, completed circle daily and completed name plates to hang up in the classroom. We also focused on the steps to washing your hands and why it's important to do this. Students also had time outside at recess to work on their gross motor skills such as walking around the yard and using the swing. Here are some pictures of our week at school. This week the students in Room 208, worked on routines, hand washing/sanitizing, social distancing and activities. It was great to see the students back in the classroom after a long pause in at school teaching. Here are some pictures of the students completing activities this week.
