I really had a lot of fun with this program because to me it’s a skill asset in life to learn how to work on your own vehicle.
Being able to go to school and know that your school offers a program like this, with a full size shop is great for someone who is really a hands-on person or that’s just passionate about cars, just like me.

Shenell has taken the hairstyling and aesthetics program since grade 9. Pre-pandemic, she was our resident makeup artist for prom and special events.
Shenell attended the SWAC Program at George Brown College to pursue a career as a Makeup Artist.
She is currently studying Cosmetic Management Humber College

I thoroughly enjoyed the Comm Tech and Tech Design classes. I chose these classes for most of my electives during grade 11 and 12.
Our ability to create something from an idea, bring it to life and see the end result is what inspires me.
These Multimedia Design classes taught me the importance of creativity, thinking outside the box, following instructions and paying attention to details - which is a valuable skill in a variety of fields.
Areas of Focus: Communications Technology & Technological Design
Taking the Hairstyling and Aesthetics classes taught me a lot. I’ve learned how to do barbering, sectioning hair, and hair colouring. I was introduced to different types of tools and much more.
These classes also gave me the chance to gain a lot of things to learn - not only for hairstyling. For example, safety comes first. Always.
I loved doing makeup since I was little and taking this class encouraged me to show what I had.
It built my confidence. I’m so glad that I had the chance to do this class, it was a definitely a great experience!

I learned the basics of cutting men’s hair, using the clippers, shear work and proper safety procedures. The fun part about the whole thing was we got to practice on each other and got to go through the learning process together!
Having Barbering as a class gave the opportunity for kids in school to get to explore that venue, get to tap in there and see whether it’s something they might be interested in pursuing. Being in the barbering class was the best thing that ever happened to me in my high school experience.
I wouldn’t have advanced as much as a young growing barber if it wasn’t proper guidance.

In grade 10, I learned the basics. In grades 11 and 12, I was taught more advanced things like hair cutting and hair colouring techniques which will help me a lot as I continue into my career.
I had real life experiences like being taught how to interact with clients and how to do a proper consultation. I noticed in college we didn’t really cover the basics so I’m glad I got to learn them in school. I would have been lost otherwise.
The Hairstyling courses have noticeably helped me in my post secondary education to becoming a licensed hairstylist.
Rhianna is working towards her Ontario certification of qualification in Hairstyling.

This course helped me in my everyday life.
I get to use those skills that I’ve learned to do things like fix a broken table or replacing door knobs at home.

A skill that I learned during this course was being open to ideas from other people. This skill enhanced not only my knowledge in with everything. I learned that being open to ideas can lead to amazing work.
My most favourite assignment in this course was the culminating because we were able to pick what we wanted to do for our last project
This class gives students the opportunity to be creative and bring their ideas to life.
Brixter is continuing to explore and expand his artistry in Baking and Pastry Arts.
