SATEC's STEAM Program stands for Science, Technology, Environment, Arts & Math. The goal for students entering the STEAM Program here at SATEC @ W.A. Porter is to deliver a program that allows students to have real-world tangible experiences while exploring the subjects of science, technology, mathematics, the environment and art alongside students with similar interests. Through the curriculum, we encourage students to build and strengthen their global competencies of critical thinking and problem solving, innovation and creativity, collaboration/team-work activities, communication skills and global citizenship so they are prepared for the 21st Century. Where possible, we encourage cross-curricular projects to further enhance the connections in the STEAM Program which may include field trips, guest speakers, workshops, etc. Lastly, it is our hope that students will foster the mindset of being a life-long learner with the skill-set necessary to navigate the challenges of either the workplace, apprenticeship, college and/or university.
