Students can write their own stories at home by using the template below! If you write a story, bring it in to share with your teachers and classmates!

There are two copies on the page. You can use one at home, and bring one to school.

Think of some adjectives (Picture words) to use in your story. I included some words to get you started.

Tips for Parents

1. Ask your child to write in his/her first language, and then ask him/her to write another copy in English. You may need to help your child with this (e.g., ask him/her to read a few sentences in their first language, and then help your child translate it with Google Translate).

2. Ask your child to tell you a story in English first. Record your child on your mobile phone. Your child can listen to himself/herself tell the story as he/she writes it. This is a great way to improve your child's oral language too!

3. Ask your child to use Google Translate if he/she can't think of a word in English.

4. Ask your child to jot down English words that he/she uses a lot, but have a hard time spelling. You can use the Word Wall that I included below.
