"Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire." - W.B. Yeats
I was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. My parents were both born on the Portuguese island of Santa Maria in the Azores. I was a shy kid growing up, but came out of my shell in high school after joining the drama club. I graduated from Ryerson University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 2008 and attained my Bachelor of Education at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology in 2010. I've been teaching in the TDSB for 7 years. I've had the opportunity to teach multiple grades and subjects, which I believe has made me a very versatile educator.
I have a lovely wife who has been along for the ride with me through my journey to become a teacher. We have been married 8 years and have been together for 18. We have two beautiful, energetic boys who we couldn't love more.
I think the most important things I try to teach my students are to be kind and respectful to others, to make the best of this life, and to take care of the Earth. I'm looking forward to another amazing year!
