For the last few years, I have been using Google Docs, Google Slides, and Google Forms to facilitate a blended learning approach to teaching senior physics and biology course. I structured my unit resources around a Google Doc that contained extensive hyperlinking between various documents. Little did I know, that I stumbled upon a teaching tool called a hyperdoc. A hyperdoc is a dynamic, interactive, and learner-centred digital document that organizes the learning workflow for students. Information that is presented in these documents are hyperlinked to a curated set of videos, internet resources, and simulations.
Here are a few examples of embedding a video into a Google Form to use as an anticipation guide (as a Minds-on Activity):
Here are a few examples of learning a concept using a hyperdoc (Google Doc) with a Three-Part Lesson:
Here is an example of the workflow for a specific concept (eclipses).
For senior science course, I post all the resources for the unit in one single Google Doc. This one below is for Grade 12 Biology. NOTE: Many of the resources in the document below must be accessed using a TDSB Google Account.
Here is an example of a Google Slide deck used to differentiate the products of an learning activity. This is from Tom Spall.
Here is a Google Slide (only one slide) with hyperlinks used to differentiate the process of learning.
