CITY CHAMPIONS!  Congratulations to our Grade 5 Touch Football Team, who won in overtime with a score of 20-19! It was a  thrilling, come from behind game to cap off a terrific season.  Many thanks to all the players - Eren, Su Hyeon, Simon, Brendan, Laars.  Patrick, Will, Ben, Aiden, Isaac, Addison, Rupert, and to the coaches, Mr. Tilly & Mr. Sternberg.  Way to go TIGERS!

What's Happening at Hillcrest...

INDOOR RUNNING SHOES - We are encouraging students to have an indoor running shoe to change into, to help keep the floors clean of debris, dry and safe..  Students with indoor running shoes will be able to fully participate in physical activities in the gym.

TRACK TEAM: Any interested students in grades 4-6 are invited to try out for the Hillcrest Track Team.  Practices will begin the week of March 17th on Day 1 and Day 3 at lunch recess.  We will meet in the Gym.  As the weather clears up, practices may take place outdoors.  Remember to wear your running shoes!  The first Track Meet takes place on April 29th at Birchmount Stadium.  (A. JUNIOR SWIM TEAM: Students in grades 4-6 are welcome to start training for the Hillcrest swim team.  Meet at the change rooms, ready to swim!  Practices will be on Tuesday mornings at 8:00 a.m. and some Thursday or Friday mornings at 8:00 a.m. (Ms. Clancy, Sarah & Conan  - swim instructors)

JUNIOR CHOIR: Grades 4-6 students practise songs for performances and assemblies at lunch recess.  Meet in the Music Room every day at lunch recess to rehearse the school musical! (Mr. Roblin) 

JUNIOR ICE HOCKEY: Students interested in playing ice hockey are welcome to try out for the competitive grade 6 ice hockey team. (Mr. Cornell, Mr. Brinsmead, Ms. Pepper)

CHENIE WENJACK CLUB: Grades 1-6 students are invited to participate in a club focused on indigenous culture, and truth and reconciliation.  We are a Downie Wenjack Legacy School, https://downiewenjack.ca/our-work/legacy-schools-programs/, and as such, we organise events and programs to create reconciliation among Canada and our indigenous peoples.  The students in this club will help create these events, and bring their ideas to the table. DRAWING CLUB: Students in grades 1-6 are welcome to draw and sketch.  Remember to bring a sketch pad and your writing tools!  Day 2 morning recess in Room 216 and Day 3 afternoon recess in Room 208. (Ms. Steadman & Ms. Rogers)
